Manual Handling Processing (MHP) Fee.
From 14 August 2022, MHP Fee/Surcharge will be $14.50 per item on goods which are not compatible with TNT’s sortation system, therefore a Manual Handling Processing Fee may be charges owing to it’s size and shape.
TNT Domestic Shipments Surcharges and Fees
TNT has a variety of charges and additional costs associated with your TNT account, whether you’re shipping domestically, internationally, or require same-day time-critical services. These fees and surcharges are calculated in Australian dollars (AUD) and will also be subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
For everyday shippers and One World Courier customers, unusually-shaped, or heavy objects booked into the TNT network which do not fit into the complex TNT network of conveyors, bins and scanning devices, will be removed and scanned by hand. This takes time to do so, therefore TNT have added a Manual Handling Fee to compensate for the time and effort required to do so. Once the package has been manually removed and scanned, it is then placed back into the TNT sortation system.
Manual Handling Processing (MHP) Fee
Objects and situations which may attract a manual handling fee are the size of the item, the weight, fragility of the package (including glass and breakables), poor or inadequate packaging. In the case of poor or inadequate packaging and a manual handling fee is applied, it could be because the item shipped is unstable due to poor weight distribution. There are other instances when the item is an unusual shape such as a tube-shape, flat pack items and items which are not symmetrical.
Dangerous Goods (DG) are also a prime example where a TNT Manual Handling Fee could be applied because these shipments can not handle the process of travelling through a complex network of conveyors where rough handling can occur due to the nature of the sorting process.

TNT Domestic Surcharges
The TNT Manual Handling Fee is charged per item as well as and in addition to any other applicable surcharge for the consignment, including oversize surcharge and Dangerous Goods‘ surcharge.
The TNT Manual Handling Fee is applied to each and all items under a consignment note, which contains Dangerous Goods.
NOTE: When sending items via TNT and TNT branded satchels are being used, and are travelling on a TNT Domestic Priority service (this includes 9:00 Express, 10:00 Express, 12:00 Express and Overnight Express), these types of parcels will not attract a TNT Manual Handling Fee. Items shipped using a TNT branded satchel must be completely contained within the satchel and sealed. It is not acceptable to wrap a TNT satchel around a carton or box and hope it will pass as a satchel (yes it does happen!). Also take note that if Dangerous Goods (DG) are being send , TNT satchels can not be used – the same goes for sending fragile and breakable goods.

4 ’Residential address’ means a home or private residence, including locations where a business is operated from the home or private residence, and/or a shipment in which the shipper has designated the delivery/pickup address as residential.
5 This fee will be applied to each consignment’s chargeable weight, which is the greater of the dead weight and the cubic weight.
6 Weight limitations will be subject to TNT’s health and safety guidelines and/or operation constraints.
Re-Delivery Fee (RED)

Fee applies where an initial attempt to deliver a consignment fails and is returned to our depot for further processing requiring a subsequent delivery or customer pick-up.
